Lauren Chiang
Curriculum Designer
(Chief Academic Officer)
Lauren holds a Ph.D. in Education and an MA in Human Development from the University of California, Los Angeles. She is an alumna of Taipei First Girls High School. She is trained in research and teaching with a focus on disability rights and mental health. Her doctoral research was supported by the StartUp grant through OSEP (Office of Special Education Programs) of the U.S. Department of Education. As an Adjunct Faculty at California State University, she mentored graduate students in the Division of Special Education and Counseling and taught graduate-level seminars on interventions, laws and policies, and current research trends.
Michelle Jiang
Academic Lead (Mathematics)
Michelle is a PhD candidate in Mathematics at Harvard University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley. Her research, focusing on combinatorics analyzed using techniques from abstract algebra, has been published in the Journal of Symbolic Computing, Collectanea Mathematica, and Le Matematiche.
Waley He
Academic Lead (Economics)
Waley He, a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at Yale University, graduated with Highest Distinction and Magna Cum Laude from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Mathematics and Computer Science. His research focuses on how monetary policy affects the macroeconomy through the financial sector. He adeptly uses higher-level mathematics and various computer simulations in his research. His research is supported by the National Science Foundation of the United States federal government.
Elena Long
Academic Lead (Computer Science)
Elena, a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at the University of Virginia (UVA), holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with Highest Distinction from UVA. She is trained in security and privacy, including but not limited to application security, network security, and data privacy. Currently, her work revolves around studying privacy within the ad ecosystem. She coaches prospective Ph.D. candidates on computer science research and technical writing.
Sarah Zou
Academic Lead (Social Sciences)
Sarah is a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin). She holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Economics and Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL). She is an alumna of Beijing No.4 High School. She is trained in quantitative social sciences, political economy and works on structural estimation, industrial organization, and econometrics. Her current research is on antitrust lawsuit against the current commission structure in the real estate brokerage industry.
Tim Dong
Academic Lead (Financial Engineering)
Tim Dong, a quantitative developer at DRW, graduated as Valedictorian from Washington University in St. Louis with a combined Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. He is an alumnus of Nanjing Foreign Language School. He was a Finalist at International Collegiate Programming Contest North America Championship (ICPC NAC) and William Lowell Putnam Top 150. He is currently working on C++ and Python infrastructure and strategy for high-frequency trading.
Xiaonan Wang
Academic Lead (Engineering)
Xiaonan Wang, a senior software engineer at Google LLC, is skilled in frontend tech stack, SQL, Java, C++, and Objective-C. She holds an MS in Computer Science from George Washington University and a BS in Guidance Navigation and Control from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. At Google, she has also served as a recruitment interviewer and evaluator. She tutors prospective software engineers on programming fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
Yanhua Wang
Academic Lead (Quantitative Finance)
Yanhua Wang is a Quantitative and Computational Finance (QCF) candidate from Georgia Tech. She completed her bachelor's degree in Mathematics at Yale-NUS College, where she received the Yale-NUS Global Leader Scholarship. She is an alumna of Hwa Chong Institution. She is trained in machine learning and computational finance at Georgia Tech and at the Julia Lab in the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). Apart from finance, she tutors Mathematical Olympiads and other high level competitions.
Aaron Wang
Academic Lead (Biomedical Sciences)
Aaron Wang is an MD (Doctor of Medicine) candidate at the University of Melbourne. He holds a 100 percentile MCAT score and a Bachelor's degree in Molecular & Cellular Biology and Psychology from Vanderbilt University with Highest Honor. He is an alumnus of Nanjing Foreign Language School. He has researched at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is a TA for Genetics, General Chemistry, and Biological Sciences. He coaches medical school application for Australia and United States and MCAT test preparations.
